Usain Bolt to Lead Nissan’s Global Campaign

If one were to give a wild guess on what car does Usain Bolt drives, it is most unlikely to be a small and slow car that does a 0-100 in a month. Being the world’s fastest man with a lightning-speed 100m dash record of 9.58 seconds, the most logical car that fits his image is the one that brings a resemblance of himself in the automotive world. And that one is none other than the 2.8 seconds, century-sprinter Nissan GT-R.

“I was looking on the internet and I came across the Nissan GT-R, and they (automotive media) were saying it was the best streetcar ever made. Nissan GT-R is a wonderful car and perfect for me. I love everything in it. I enjoy driving it, and feel completely safe, and that is the key thing for me”, said the 25-year-old triple Olympic gold medalist Jamaican.

And being a GT-R owner himself since 2009, Usain is now appearing in Nissan’s first-ever global campaign, “What If_”, with the rest of the slogan reading “What if the world’s fastest man went even faster?”. The campaign aims to highlight iconic products and technologies from Nissan that will excite the consumers towards the global brand.

The Bolt-GTR series was unveiled by Nissan at the Narita International Airport and Kansai International Airport in Japan, and is scheduled to reach other international airports in all major cities soon after. This campaign is aimed to boost Nissan’s brand power, which is part of the company’s mid-term plan through 2016. It will also be extended online on facebook, bringing up Nissan’s messages to the viewers in understanding their human-centric approach to innovation.
